Orinda Union School District:
EFO Helps Build a Strong Educational Foundation for Every K-8 Student

Information Literacy,Libraries and Technology: $325,470
EFO provides over 75% of school library instruction costs.  Orinda's K-8 school libraries and certificated librarians
enhance the core curriculum for all elementary and intermediate students by encouraging their budding interest

in reading, introducing them to library resources. and teaching them how to use technology as a research tool. New this year, EFO is funding teacher training in information literacy -- the coordination and facilitation of technology

and library services -- so that teachers are better able to integrate grade level curriculum using library resources and computer education.

Music and Performing Arts: $269,581

Every elementary student participates in music education thanks to EFO, which funds 100 percent of OUSD’s music program. From classical to rap, students learn about the many musical genres and composers, melody and rhythm, and have an opportunity to perform in the chorus, school band or annual musical. Moving on to OIS students can continue pursuing their vocal and instrumental interests through a variety of course offerings, including chorus, strings, jazz band, and concert band.

OIS Electives: $100,415
During the 2005- 2006 school year, EFO is funding 8 elective sections including art, video production, drama and

computer classes. At student-run KOIS, students develop behind and in front of the camera skills, preparing all the news for intra-school broadcasts.

Art Education: $67,804
EFO funds approximately 80% of the district's standards-based arts program. For all K-5 students, art education includes studying the great masters as well learning about the vast array of artistic styles and movements.

Wagner Ranch Nature Area Programs: $57,796

curriculum at the nationally recognized Wagner Ranch Nature Area.

In this outdoor classroom, children experience environmental education and living history through Animal Camp, Pioneer and Rancho Days, Indian Camp and First Thanksgiving.
