Our School Programs

For over 40 years, the Educational Foundation of Orinda has made up the gap between state funding and what our children really need to succeed in the world. EFO has funded programs that directly affect and improve the quality of education for our students just starting in transitional kindergarten all the way through to graduation from Miramonte High School.

By raising funds from families, community members, alumni, non-profits, foundations, and local businesses, EFO makes a difference for every student in every grade. For the 2019-2020 school year, working with the Orinda Union School District and the Acalanes Union High School District, EFO granted $1,690,000 to ensure smaller class sizes, a wealth of arts, music, and electives, and many other core academic and enrichment programs designed to provide a first-class educational experience.

Small class sizes are especially powerful in English courses that require abstract and emotional reasoning. Literature inspires tough, ambiguous questions that need to be asked in a supportive, tight-knit environment where it’s okay to fail.
