Over the last few years, EFO and the Parents’ Clubs from all six Orinda schools have looked at ways to streamline and coordinate the fundraising we all do for Orinda students. More recently, a steering committee has been set up to determine what combining our fundraising organizations would look like.
Here is an important update from the steering committee on the progress toward forming ONE Orinda - a centralized fundraising entity to benefit ALL Orinda schools.
Based on proven fundraising models utilized in other high-performing school districts, ONE Orinda aims to simplify the fundraising requests of parents, reduce reliance on parent volunteer hours, sustain fundraising, and open new donor opportunities, including alumni of Orinda schools, educational and community foundations, corporate giving, and more. Led by representatives from each Parents’ Club and the broader Orinda community, ONE Orinda seeks to achieve these goals while maintaining sufficient flexibility to meet the individual needs and culture at each of Orinda’s six schools. A simple website has been established at ONEOrinda.org to provide information and updates. Please visit often for updates.
The steering committee is meeting weekly to further develop the ONE Orinda concept and implement the terms of the agreement approved by each Parents’ Club and EFO in June 2019. The steering committee is aiming to complete its work by December 2019 and has established four subcommittees focused on key areas of work: (1) governance and bylaws; (2) banking, finance, and data management; (3) branding and marketing; and (4) administration. To offer your experience or expertise to one of the subcommittees, please email volunteer@ONEOrinda.org.
